Why did you choose the University of Pittsburgh?

As an African American woman in STEAM, it is incredibly pertinent to establish a strong support system that recognizes and actively opposes the exclusive and gatekeeping nature that plagues academia. During my interview, I met many faculty members and students that made it clear that this was possible here at Pitt. I have fostered such an invaluable network with so many amazing mentors and scientists and I couldn’t be more excited to continue to grow here.
